Indira Gandhi National Open University (Ignou) is the largest university in the world. It is a Central University established by an Act of Parliament in 1985. Its aim is to educate all the citizens of the country. That is, in a short span of time, IGNOU has made significant contributions in the areas of higher education, community education, and continuous professional development. It has emerged as a world leader in distance education and has been awarded the Excellence Award by the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), (Canada) for its success.
It offers over two hundred academic, skill-oriented programs at Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and Doctorate degree levels. Presently the university is being emphasized on the development of interactive multimedia supported, online learning as well as blended learning and modern technology-enabled education delivery. It has decided to make the teaching material available in digital format.
In this direction, it has started successful programs like SWAYAM, and SWAYAMPRABHA. The university had registered 39,500 learners on SWAYAM in 2019. It is currently offering a total of 15 courses. On the other hand SWAYAMPRABHA is playing its role in achieving this goal through educational DTH channels.

How does IGNOU make its result?
It prescribes marks very liberally in the programs conducted under IGNOU. Due to which there is a lot of tension in the students. Here IGNOU Result Declaration has been discussed. It mainly follows the method mentioned below in all its programs and declares the result for the students. It evaluates the students at two levels. The method of evaluation is common to all courses (B.A + M.A) :-
Assignment – Under this, all the students have to submit an assignment of 30 marks in each subject. The exam is conducted under the remaining 70 marks.
Examination – Under this, an examination of 70 marks is conducted on each subject. The result is declared on the basis of the marks obtained by the student out of 100 by combining the marks of both the levels.
