School of Open Learning (SOL) is an open university established under the University of Delhi. Distance education in India had started since 1960s but it was not being fully implemented. In this direction, the School of Open Learning, formally known as the Directorate of Correspondence Courses, was started in 1962 under the University of Delhi.
It is a pioneer institute in the field of distance education in India. When this distance education program was started in 1962, its foundation was laid with only 900 students and it was launched with a lot of skepticism, but their fear proved to be futile as this school emerged as a successful system in the country. has come in front of The school enrolled around 5 lakh students in the academic session 2020-21.
The admission process for various courses in the school is governed by the norms established by the University of Delhi. The exam is also conducted by Delhi University. Delhi University awards degrees to the students of the school as it does in the case of its other constituent colleges.
SOL Programs Information
The school offers Undergraduate/Postgraduate degree courses in the disciplines of Arts/Humanities and Commerce. The study is conducted on 2 days a week (Saturday/Sunday) as well. Study material is made available to the students of all subjects, this material is available in both hard and soft copy. Which is provided to all enrolled students at the time of admission. There is always a faculty open relief in the main campus for academic interaction with the students where students can solve their problems related to their studies through dialogue.

School of Open Learning (SOL) has also established its own library for the smooth management of the subjects offered by the school and for the smooth management of the subjects in the study of the students. In addition, the school also has a South Study Center at South Moti Bagh, (New Delhi).
